New Home Remodel in Murrells Inlet

Brenda and Greg owned this home for 9 years previously, and it was built in 2010. The family came to Murrells Inlet for family gatherings throughout the years. Retirement was approaching, and a more permanent residency was needed.

It was a fairly large renovation project. I quickly interviewed contractors I have confidence working with, to become my building partner. Chris Hite from CH Custom Renovations partnered with Decorative Interiors to start planning and scheduling the selection of materials and design options. The renovation included new floors, paint, a new master bath, partial main bath, new kitchen, new furniture throughout, redesign of the double fireplace (adding stone), all new fixtures and fans, and new shutters throughout. I prefer to use local stores to purchase cabinets, plumbing, flooring, tile, glass, and countertops.

It is always helpful to take the client on a shopping day to choose and feel the finishes and see all the choices available. Some of the new design elements include a very large island in the kitchen, carpet tile floor in the master, and the addition of stone around the double fireplace. Barn doors were added to a den area. After selecting and ordering all the construction materials, my contractor made up a schedule of three months to start and finish the job. In this case, my client completely moved out and put all her existing belongings in the garage.

We were then able to focus on the furnishings part of the project. We aimed for a casual elevated warm classic vibe. The color scheme was blue and terracotta. Each room had a floor plan layout to scale and a furniture collage to help the client visualize the complete look. Chris finished the job on the three-month timeline. I was able to install all the furnishings just before the Christmas holiday.

This was a team effort and a large renovation that I am proud to be a member of. I hope my clients have many happy years of retirement enjoying all that Murrells Inlet has to offer, with continued memories for extended family vacation visits.
