Meet Laurie Dragunoff

Meeting Laurie can be likened to viewing an MC Escher drawing. You may initially think one thing, and by the end of the conversation, you will have a whole other picture of her. She listens intensely. And don’t let her demure persona fool you. There’s an unspoken depth to her expertise that she doesn’t brag about.

She’s an interior designer who graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor’s of Fine Art in Interior Design. One of her room makeovers has been featured and published in a ‘Who’s who’ of Decorator Showhouses book, and she’s had her own design, retail and textile store for over 16 years in Connecticut. She moved to Myrtle Beach when her daughter started college in Charleston, and luckily, we became the beneficiaries of her keen eye for design and layering mastery.

Work with an amazing eye for great design

Having worked for architectural design firms early on gives Laurie an advantage over most designers. She can see where structural changes do and don’t have to be made with greater authority— and this is an invaluable skill.

“Since moving to the South, I’ve noticed that clients like bright, happy colors. It’s definitely more colorful down here, less traditional, and my clients often want a relaxed beautiful style,” says Laurie. The change in lifestyle and culture is a welcomed one. It also gives birth to designs and trends that Laurie has always loved and can now fully embrace. She’s still doing what she’s always done, but with a whole new diversity and a wide variety of palettes to choose from.
